Kathrein India Private Limited started out as Omega Telecommunication Suppliers Pvt. Ltd. in 1996-97. The company was incorporated by Mr. Vinit Phatak and was the authorized distributor for Kathrein Werke KG, Germany to distribute and sell their products in the Indian market. The co-operation over the years between Kathrein and Omega Telecom proved to be extremely successful and as Indian telecom networks expanded, the worlds oldest and largest antenna manufacturer, Kathrein Werke KG, Germany, decided to commit to the regional market through direct investment.

Kathrein India is responsible for the Sales and support for the growing regional market consisting of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, & the Maldives. For base station antennas, which are used to provide cellular network coverage, Kathrein India is a leading supplier in India with a customer base consisting of practically all wireless operators and OEMs.In the Broadcast industry too, Kathrein India is a market leader. In the past years it has won a majority of the orders from State owned Doordarshan for High Power VHF and UHF Terrestrial TV and DVB-T Transmitting Antenna Systems.

Finally, it has set-up a ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004 certified manufacturing facility near Mumbai to produce Microwave Antennas using the technology from the Kathrein owned, Faini Telecommunications srl, Italy. The unit will manufacture a range of Microwave antennas not only for the Indian market but also other markets in the world.
